正如我轻轻的来;

是夕阳中的新娘;

油油的在水底招摇;

不是清泉,是天上虹;

向青草更青处漫溯;

悄悄是别离的笙箫;

正如我悄悄的来;

Adieu,Cambridge!

Xu Zhimo

Lightly I go away,

As lightly as I came to stay.

Lightly I wave adieu

To western clouds in view.

The golden willow by the riverside

Is the fair shadow of my bride,

Shimmering in my heart

As the departing sunrays that won’t part.

See the green grass swing et sway

As if on underwater clay!

I would like to be a leaf green

Wafting on your waves serene.

The pool in the shade would appear

A Rainbow unlike a fountain clear;

The green duckweed would seem

To knead the rainbow into a dream.

Where is the dream?Could a pole long

Pick up among the weeds a dreamer’s song?

My boat is fully loaded with the twinkle

Of stars,but I won’t wrinkle.

The water with my flute

Which,hearing us part,becomes mute.

Even insects won’t break the silence of twilight

On the River of Cambridge tonight.

Mutely I go away,

As mutely as I came to stay.

I wave my sleeve,

But no cloud will take leave.
