青草池塘处处蛙。
有约不来过夜半，
闲敲棋子落灯花[3]。
注释：
[1]黄梅时节：农历四、五月。
[2]家家雨：每户人家都赶上下雨。形容雨水多。
[3]灯花：燃烧的灯芯所结成的花状物。
An Appointment Unfulfilled
Sima Guang
It drizzles everywhere in rainy season cool,
Frogs croak in the meadow by the side of the pool.
You have not kept your appointment,now it’s midnight.
What can I do but watch the flickering lamplight?
