雾失楼台，
月迷津渡。
桃源望断无寻处。
可堪孤馆闭春寒，
杜鹃声里斜阳暮。
驿寄梅花，
鱼传尺素。

郴江幸自绕郴山，
为谁流下潇湘[2]去。

Bowers are lost in mist;
Ferry dimmed in moonlight.
Peach Blossom Land ideal is beyond the sight.
Shut up in lonely inn, can I bear the cold spring?
I hear at lengthening sunset homebound cuckoos sing.
Mume blossoms sent by friends
And letters brought by post,
Nostalgic thoughts uncounted assail me oft in host.
The lonely river flows around the lonely hill.
Why should it southward flow, leaving me sad and ill?

《踏莎行·郴州旅舍》是宋代词人秦观的词作。此词大约作于绍圣四年（1097）春三月作者初抵郴州（今属湖南）之时。词人因党争遭贬，远徒郴州，精神上倍感痛苦，故作词抒写客次旅舍的感慨：上片写谪居中寂寞凄冷的环境；下片由叙实开始，写远方友人殷勤致意、安慰。全词以委婉曲折的笔法，抒写了失意人的凄苦和哀怨的心情，流露了对现实政治的不满。
“Treading on Grass” is a lyric by Qin Guan, a Song Dynasty lyricist. It was written in March of the fourth year of Shaosheng (1097), when the writer first arrived in Chenzhou (now in Hunan). The lyricist was deported due to the party dispute, and he was in Chenzhou, so he felt painful mentally, so he wrote the lyric to express his feelings of being a guest in the hostel: the first piece is about the lonely and miserable environment in the exile; the second piece starts from the narration of the reality, and writes about the kind greetings and consolation from distant friends. The entire lyric is written in a euphemistic and twisted style, expressing the misery and grievances of a lost man, and revealing his dissatisfaction with the reality of politics.
