关山三五月，
客子忆秦川[1]。
思妇高楼上，
当窗应未眠。
星旗[2]映疏勒[3]，
云阵上祁连[4]。
战气今如此，
从军复几年？
注释：
[1] 秦川：指关中，就是从陇山东到函谷关一带地方。
[2] 旗：星宿的名称。《史记·天官书》：“房心东北曲十二星曰旗。”
[3] 疏勒：汉西域诸国之一。王都疏勒城在今新疆维吾尔自治区疏勒县。
[4] 祁连：山名，即天山。

The full moon o’er the mountain pass,
A soldier is homesick, alas!
“My longing wife in tower high,
Sleepless at her window, should sigh.
Star-flags unfurled on border west,
Clouds in array sweep mountain crest.
The warts run on from year to year.
When can I not be stationed here?”
