This song tells the story of a legendary woman in the Qing Dynasty (Queen mother Xiaozhuang, named Bumubutai-布木布泰, surnamed Bolzigit-博尔济吉特). As a Mongolian, she was thought by a lama that she would marry the emperor in the future,and become the first lady.But she was already in love with a man named “Dorgon”（多尔衮，Duō ěr gǔn） when she was young.Then she was forcibly married by the emperor, Hong Taichi（皇太极，Huáng tàijí,This also confirmed what the lama said）. After Hong Taichi died of illness, Dorgon took power, and Empress Xiaozhuang had to find a balance between him and Emperor Shunzhi.In the end, due to the death of Dorgon, Queen mother Xiaozhuang stabilized the ruling environment for Emperor Shunzhi and laid the foundation for the later Emperor Kangxi.But looking at her story, you will find that she is the biggest tragedy-because as a woman, she has become a victim of political marriage and inability to freely marry.
