北山[2]输[3]绿涨横陂[4]，
直堑[5]回塘[6]滟滟[7]时。
细数[8]落花因坐久，
缓寻芳草得归迟。

[1] 这是王安石罢相后回南京，住在钟山时的作品。《千家诗》注说：“涨，泛滥也；滟，水光莹也。”这首诗写出了知识分子流连山水，忘情花草的乐趣。

The Northern Mountain

The lake overflows with northern mountain’s green hue;
Straight canals shimmer with winding lake shores in view.
Counting the fallen petals, long I sit and wait;
Seeking for fragrant grass, slowly I come back late.
《北山》是北宋政治家王安石创作的一首七言绝句。这首诗反映的幽闲意境，抒写了诗人神离尘寰、心无挂碍的超脱情怀。一、二句写北山河塘绿意浓郁，景中含情，表达出转战对春光的喜爱之情；三、四句写作者仔细地数着落花，慢慢地寻觅芳草，很晚才回家，在细节描写中表现出心情的闲适。
