游目[1]四野外，
逍遥独延伫[2]。
兰蕙[3]缘[4]清渠，
繁华荫[5]绿渚[6]。
佳人不在兹[7]，
取此欲谁与？
巢居知风寒，
穴处识阴雨。
不曾远别离，
安知慕[8]俦侣[9]？
注释：
[1] 游目：随意观望。
[2] 延伫：久久站立。
[3] 兰蕙：都是香草的品种。
[4] 缘：沿。
[5] 荫：覆遮。
[6] 渚：小洲。
[7] 兹：这里。
[8] 慕：思念。
[9] 俦侣：伴侣。

Zhang Hua
I freely gaze on countryside;
Alone I linger in the gloom.
Sweet orchids grow along streams wide;
Green islets shaded by trees in bloom.
But my beloved one is not here;
I gather these flowers in vain.
Birds in the nest know the wind drear;
Ants in the cave the drenching rain.
If you have not been far apart,
How can you value your sweetheart?
