两个黄鹂[1]鸣翠柳，
一行白鹭[2]上青天。
窗含西岭[3]千秋雪，
门泊东吴[4]万里船。
注释：
[1] 黄鹂：黄莺。
[2] 白鹭：体形似鹤而略小一点，颈、腿都较长，全身羽毛纯白。
[3] 西岭：泛指岷山，在成都西。
[4] 东吴：泛指长江下游。
A Quatrain
Du Fu
Two golden orioles sing amid the willows green;
A flock of white egrets fly into the blue sky.
My window frames the snow-crowned western mountain scene;
My door off says to eastward going ships “Goodbye!”
The first couplet of this quatrain is a colorful picture: golden orioles and green willows, white egrets and blue sky. The second couplet presents a vast view of the east and the west, mountain and river, but within the framework of his door and window.
