Brief Introduction
Huangguoshu Waterfall was called Baishuihe Waterfall 白水河瀑布 in ancient times. Guizhou folk have been circulating the mythical story of Huangguoshu Waterfall since ancient times, and the name of Huangguoshu Waterfall comes from the tree that bears yellow fruit in this mythological story.
Located in Anshun City安顺, Guizhou Province, China, the waterfall is the largest first-class waterfall in the Huangguoshu Waterfall group and is one of the world’s most famous waterfalls. It is known for its huge water potential. The height of the waterfall is 77.8 meters, of which the main waterfall is 67 meters high, and the waterfall is 101 meters wide, of which the main waterfall top is 83.3 meters wide. Huangguoshu Waterfall is a typical waterfall of erosion crack in karst landforms喀斯特地貌.
Huangguoshu Scenic Area is a national key scenic spot, located in the southwest of Guizhou Province, 128 kilometers away from the provincial capital Guiyang贵阳, and 45 kilometers away from the tourism center Anshun City, there are 320 National Highway, Shanghai–Kunming Expressway directly to the scenic spot. The scenic area is centered on the Huangguoshu Waterfall (77.8 meters high and 101 meters wide), and there are 18 waterfalls with different styles, forming a huge waterfall family.
Huangguoshu Scenic Area is one of the first batches of national key scenic spots in China and one of the first batches of 5A-level scenic spots to obtain a national assessment. In November 1999, it was agreed by the China Science And Technology Department as a national science popularization education base. In 2017, it was rated as the first batch of national primary and secondary school students research and practice education bases.
The air in the scenic spot is fresh, and the air contains more than 28,000 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter, known as the “natural oxygen bar”.

Attractions
With a height of 77.8 meters, the main waterfall is 67 meters high and 101 meters wide, making it the largest waterfall in China and even In Asia. Behind the waterfall, there is the famous “Water Curtain Cave水帘洞”, which also makes Huangguoshu Waterfall the only large waterfall that can be admired from six perspectives.
Opposite the Huangguoshu Waterfall, originally Half Side Street, it has now become a caravan camp. If you are driving your own motorhome, you can also stay here.
Tianxing Cave is a typical karst landform cave. A number of halls and side halls are naturally formed inside the cave. Among the colorful and ever-changing peaks and strange stones, 4 large stone pillars reach the top of the cave, and the stone flowers on the pillars are overgrown , such as carved dragons and phoenixes, and the color is gorgeous. The main landscape in the cave is mainly artificial, with peculiar shapes, which appear exquisite and magnificent.
Located 1 km upstream of Huangguoshu Waterfall in Guizhou Province, the Doupotang Waterfall is 105 meters wide and 21 meters high, which is the widest waterfall in the Huangguoshu waterfall group. At the top of the Shuipotang waterfall is a huge melting pool with an area of 15,000 square meters, and the waterfall is formed on a calcified beach dam more than 100 meters long.
When the water is flat, the white water river does not flow much, the water flow is clear, and the Doupotang Waterfall is very beautiful.
The water layer of the waterfall spreads evenly along the gentle waterfall surface, dancing lightly on the scaled travertine beach surface, like a thin, translucent veil, and like an open silk fan, glowing silver in the sun, so some people jokingly call it “bridal veil”.
However, when the flood season comes, and the white water water water is yellow due to a large amount of upstream sediment washed down by the flood, the steep slope pond waterfall disappears from the usually calm water and becomes extremely fierce and majestic.
Buyi Cultural Festival
Huangguoshu Scenic Area began to hold the Huangguoshu “June 6” Buyi Cultural Festival in 2007, with the purpose of excavating and accumulating Buyi culture through festival activities, serving the cultural brand construction and cultural tourism development of Huangguoshu Scenic Area.
“June 6th” is the traditional festival of the Buyi people, due to the different areas of residence, the date of the festival is not uniform, and some areas celebrate the first six days of June, called June 6; Areas with the opening ceremony of the “June 6” cultural festival are celebrated on June 16 or June 26 in the lunar calendar, called June Street or June Bridge. The Buyi people 布依族 attach great importance to the festival of “June 6” which has been called “Little Year”.
