平陵东，松柏桐[2]，
不知何人劫义公[3]。
劫义公，在高堂[4]下，
交钱百万两走马[5]。
两走马，亦诚难，
顾见追吏心中恻。
心中恻，血出漉，
归告我家卖黄犊。
注释：
[1] 平陵：汉昭帝墓，在今陕西咸阳市西北。
[2] 松柏桐：指墓地。
[3] 义公：古时对“好人”的美称。一说，义公是姓义的人。
[4] 高堂：指官府衙门。
[5] 走马：善跑的马。这句意思是说，官吏责令义公必须交钱百万，再加两匹走马，尔后才能获得释放。

One fine horse, one fine steed,
It’s hard indeed.
Seeing the officer, his heart would bleed.
His bleeding heart grows cold.
“Oh let my wife be told:
The yellow calf be sold, the yellow calf be sold!”
