I Stroll out of the East Gate

Anonymous

I stroll out of the east gate of the town;

On the road to southern shore I look down.

In wind and snow the day before yesterday

Along this road my friend did go away.

I’d follow him and go across the stream,

But water’s deep and there’s no bridge nor beam.

If like two yellow birds we’d soar up high,

Then homeward to our native land we’d fly.
