Blessings

Wandering in the woods against the rain [preoccupied]
In the wind tips of [my] hair saturated with dampness
The mizzle whispered [to me] [should I] grow weary on this prolonged journey
The arching grass over the clear spring could offer a tranquil repose
Sweeping water hugged the path’s every turn
Now and then repeating meanders weaved through the knolls
A sweeping view of soft [and] fluffy yellowing leaves [some] fell
Flittingly towards and into a limpid creek [they were] already floating off into the distance
Oh [in] departed days of the past, so many times confusion tangled up [my] heart
Today these present times [confusion] trailed afar with drifting mists
[With] birdsongs in my ears quietly [I] watched lines of rain pulled into ellipses while falling
The wind so discretely gifted me
A string of heartfelt blessings
Wandering in the woods against the rain [preoccupied]
In the wind tips of [my] hair saturated with dampness
The mizzle whispered [to me] [should I] grow weary on this prolonged journey
The arching grass over the clear spring could offer a tranquil repose
Sweeping water hugged the path’s every turn
Now and then repeating meanders weaved through the knolls
A sweeping view of soft [and] fluffy yellowing leaves [some] fell
Flittingly towards and into a limpid creek [they were] already floating off into the distance
Ah a gift of unending blessings bestowed on you
Wafting ever so softly on a prolonged journey in search of eternity
Drawing from those birdsongs a smidge of added warmth on this journey
Implore the brisk wind to convey [my] offering of
A thousand strings of heartfelt blessings
Ah a gift of unending blessings bestowed on you
Wafting ever so softly on a prolonged journey in search of eternity
Drawing from those birdsongs a smidge of added warmth on this journey
Urge the brisk wind to convey [my] offering of
A thousand strings of heartfelt blessings
Implore the brisk wind to convey [my] offering of
A thousand strings of heartfelt blessings

徘徊 to me has a hint of pacing and lingering, covering the same ground, almost like having a need to buy time, or awaiting inspiration

I did not translate this faithfully. “Tips of [my] hair in the wind, got wet” rather than “In the wind ….”

I initially took this as whispering to the rain, but it turned out to be the other way round, the rain was doing the talking, making a suggestion

This paints a picture of steady rain, a touch heavier than a drizzle, hardly any wind, and it falls as continuous threads, initially. Then as they pick up speed and the shear between them and their surrounding air breaks their continuity, they become drops. All of this, captured in two pairs of characters. It is much trickier to replicate this scene as succinctly in English and still remain faithful to the metaphor. So, I broke the latter.

Literally “borrow that bird speech”. Borrowing is a strange concept since there would be no way of repaying, in which case it is taking. It is more a case of drawing inspiration from the bird song, perhaps using it as a stepping stone, a prompt.

奉上 is much more than to offer, there is a hint of sacrifice and more about preparing/making an offering.
