情通万里外，形迹滞江山。
君其爱体素，来会在何年？
公元424年，陶渊明60岁。庞参军在浔阳为官，与陶渊明遂成“邻曲”，后庞参军奉命出使江陵，有诗赠陶渊明以告别，陶渊明以此诗作答。此诗分两部分，前八句追忆与庞参军真挚深厚的友情，后8句抒发依依惜别的情怀。
“相知何必旧”指相互知心的人未必是旧相识，说明两人不是旧交，而是新知。“赏我趣”指欣赏我的志趣。此乃谦虚的说法，同时也说明了独特的人格、高雅生活的魅力。“圣人篇”说明两人谈话内容格调不俗气，皆先圣遗篇；“闲饮自欢然”指悠闲对饮心自欢然，说明诗人的交友方式高雅、闲适，感情流露自然、融洽，亦有舒适欢喜之感。“但愿先生保重贵体，将来相会知在何年？”诗人与好友分手在即，不免感伤、怅惘；感伤之余，亦有嘱咐。更对来年的重新相会寄托了希望。体现了诗人与朋友之间真挚的友情。

Friends may not be acquaintances old,
Chance meeting may warm winter cold.
If we enjoy the same delight,

A lonely hermit fond of rest,
I go no longer east or west.
All men love new things and friends old.
Let news in black and white be told.
Though severed by mountains and streams,

You love a rural life, but when,

《答庞参军》是晋宋之际文学家陶渊明创作的一首四言古诗。此诗叙述作者与庞参军交往的经过和彼此结下的诚挚的友情。第一章自叙隐居之乐，第二章写与友人志同道合，第三章写与友相处之乐，第四章写离别之痛楚，第五章写离别之原委，第六章写赠别之意。全诗章章相连，层层相生，气象声响，宛如《诗经》。
The poem “Reply to Pang” is a quatrain poem written by Tao Yuanming, a literary scholar of the Jin and Song dynasties. The poem describes the author’s relationship with Senator Pang and the sincere friendship they formed. The first chapter describes the happiness of living in seclusion, the second chapter describes the like-mindedness of his friend, the third chapter describes the happiness of spending time with him, the fourth chapter describes the pain of parting, the fifth chapter describes the reason for parting, and the sixth chapter describes the intention of giving farewell. The whole poem is connected chapter by chapter, layer by layer, and the weather sounds like the “Poetic Edda”.
