Creation background
This poem describes a trip to a distant mountain, and its specific creation time is hard to confirm. In late autumn, the author climbed the mountain to enjoy the scenery and was intoxicated with the picturesque beauty, so he wrote this poem to remember it.
争议：是“深”还是“生”？
原文第二句中，是“深”还是“生”字在学术界仍旧存在争议。清康熙陈梦雷编辑《古今图书积尘》作“白云深处有人家”。明万历赵宦光刊本，宋洪迈编《万首唐人绝句》作“白云生处有人家”。清乾隆《四库全书》收入的两种版本都有，例如明高棅编《唐诗品汇》和《御定全唐诗》作“白云深处有人家”，而宋洪迈编《万首唐人绝句》作“白云生处有人家”。有些课本中本诗也从原来的“白云深处有人家”修改为现在的“白云生处有人家”，并于注释处说明“‘生处’一作‘深处’”（考试时应以使用的课本为准）。94年版教育部重编国语辞典作“白云深处有人家”。部编版最新的教材已经选用了“白云生处有人家”。
Dispute: Is it “deep” or “living”?
In the second sentence of the original text, whether the word “deep” or “living” is still controversial in the academic circle. Chen Menglei, editor of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, wrote “There is a family in the depths of white clouds” in the book Dust Accumulation of Ancient and Modern Books. Zhao Huanguang’s edition of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, and Song Hongmai’s Ten Thousand Tang Dynasty quatrains, wrote “There are people where white clouds live”. There are two versions of the income of the Si Ku Quan Shu compiled by Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. For example, Gao Bing of the Ming Dynasty compiled Tang Shi Pin Hui and Yu Ding Quan Tang Shi as “There are people in the depths of white clouds”, while Song Hongmai compiled Ten Thousand Tang Ren Jue as “There are people in the depths of white clouds”. In some textbooks, this poem has also been revised from the original “there are people in the depths of white clouds” to the current “there are people in the depths of white clouds”, and explained in the annotation that “the place of birth” is “the depth” (the textbook used shall prevail during the examination). In 1994, the Ministry of Education recompiled the Mandarin dictionary as “There is a family in the depths of white clouds”. The latest textbook compiled by the Ministry of Education has selected “There are families where Baiyun lives”.
