Yu the Great, lauded as one of the “sage-kings” of Ancient China, including King Yao and King Shun, was a legendary ruler of Ancient China, famed for his introduction of flood control, inaugurating dynastic rule by dividing China into nine provinces. Yu is posthumously honored with the appellation “the Great” by future generations.
