September, 21st, 2017, Ministry of Education of China released a selected list of universities and colleges, which will participate in the country’s construction plan of world-class universities and first-class disciplines.
The plan, also known as the “Double-First Class” initiative, aims to ultimately build a number of world class universities and disciplines by the end of 2050, in an effort to make China an international higher education power.
Among the list, there are 42 world class universities, and 95 universities with first-class disciplines.

For the 42 world class universities, there are 36 universities belongs to category A, and 6 belongs category B. Those 36 category A world class universities are the 36 Top Universities in China. Here are the full list of top 36, with their location:
