Introduction of C9 Universities

C9 League universities are the first universities alliance among top universities in China, which was launched in October 2009. Members of the alliance are among the first batch of first-class universities under the key construction of “985 Project”, including 9 universities of Peking UniversityTsinghua UniversityZhejiang UniversityUniversity of Science and Technology of ChinaShanghai Jiaotong University, Nanjing UniversityFudan UniversityXi’an Jiaotong University and Harbin Institute of Technology.

The C9 alliance aims to strengthen cooperation and exchange in the fields of personnel training and scientific research and complement each other. At present, the C9 has maintained good cooperative relations with other famous National University alliances, such as Russell university group, U15 University Alliance in Germany, U15 Research University Alliance in Canada, and eight University Alliance in Australia. Since its establishment, the alliance has launched some substantive activities, such as exchange students, seminars, summer camps, etc.

 

History of C9 universities

 In 2003, the presidents of the first nine universities which entered the “Project 985” held the first “series of seminars on the construction of first-class universities”. Since then, the conference has been held once a year.

In 2009, the most important topic of the 7th meeting is to establish the “C9 alliance”, which aims to share resources and accelerate development. The nine universities signed the “agreement on cooperation and exchange in talent cultivation of first-class universities”.

 

Scholarship

Those C9 universities also provide a large number of scholarships to study in China.
