今日良宴会，欢乐难具陈[2]。
弹筝奋逸响，新声妙入神[3]。
令德[4]唱高言，识曲听其真。
齐心同所愿，含意俱未伸。
人生寄一世，奄忽若飙尘[5]。
何不策高足，先踞要路津[6]？
无为守穷贱，轗轲[7]长苦辛。

[1] 良宴会：热闹的宴会。
[2] 具陈：一一陈述。
[3] 奋逸：不同凡俗的音响。新声，指当时的流行曲调。
[4] 令德：有美好德行的人。
[5] 奄忽若飙尘：奄忽，急剧。飙尘，指狂风里被卷起来的尘土。用此比喻人生，说明人生的短促和空虚。
[6] 高足：良马的代称。要路津，重要的路口和渡口，指占住重要的位置。
[7] 轗轲：同“坎坷”，不平，不得志。

We keep a feast in spirit high;
Our pleasures are hard to relate.
The music played wafts in the sky,
And stirring are songs up-to-date.
The virtuosoes sing their fill;
The connoisseurs know what’s about.
At heart they all have the same will,
But none of them will speak it out.
Men live like rovers on their way
Or dust by wind driven away.
Why don’t you ride at a fast pace
And occupy important place?
Why should one live in poverty
And sufer life-long misery!
