Green, Green, the Tombside Cypresses are Seen

Anonymous

Green, green, the tombside cypresses are seen;

Clear, clear, the pebbles in the brook appear.

We live between the earth and sky;

Like travelers we shall pass by.

So let’s enjoy our cups of wine!

It may not be strong, but it’s fine.

Our carriages and steeds let us drive

To the two capitals which thrive!

How splendid is Riverside Town!

The crowned and belted come up and down.

By-streets criss-cross the thoroughfare;

Lordly mansions stand here and there.

Two palaces command far and nigh,

With watch-towers hundred feet high.

Let us enjoy fully our feast!

Why should we worry in the least?
