骆宾王[2]
此地别燕丹[3]，
壮士[4]发冲冠[5]。
昔时人已没[6]，
今日水犹寒[7]。
注释：
[1] 易水：河名，位于今河北易县。战国时燕国太子在此地送别荆轲。
[2] 骆宾王：初唐四杰之一，曾起兵讨伐武则天说：“试看今日之域中，竟是谁家之天下？”这首诗歌颂了舍生取义的英雄，说明古代史学家有不以成败论英雄的思想。
[3] 燕丹：燕国太子丹。
[4] 壮士：指前往刺秦的荆轲。
[5] 发冲冠：怒发冲冠。
[6] 没：同“殁”，死去。
[7] 寒：寒气逼人。

O gone are those heroes of old.
But the river is still as cold.
