108 The eminent monks who were present saw from their respective routines that there was a door. Obviously, Polo Xing must have secretly learned Shaolin martial arts, otherwise, he would not be so skillful in using his palms and fists without preparation.
109神上人又替波罗星辩解,说少林派的武功源自达摩祖师,达摩便是天竺僧人,那么波罗星懂得少林寺的武功便毫不稀奇,决不能因此证明他曾偷看过少林寺的武功秘录。
The Venerable Monk also defended Polo Xing, saying that the martial arts of the Shaolin Sect originated from the founder of Da Mo, who is a Buddhist monk in India. So Polo Xing knows the martial arts of the Shaolin Temple, which is not surprising. It can never prove that he has peeked at the secret martial arts records of the Shaolin Temple.
110玄慈一时无言,便叫刚刚出手的中年僧人去藏经楼取三本书来。不一会儿,那僧人便取回了三本书,只见这些书纸质黄中发黑,显然是年代久远了。
Xuanci was speechless for a moment, so he asked the middle-aged monk who had just started to take three books from the Sutra Pavilion. In a short time, the monk took back three books. The paper of these books was yellow and black, which was obviously old.
111玄慈将三本书放在桌上,请几位客人细看,说:“三部分书中各自叙明了创功的经历。刚才波罗星大师的套路分明源出这些经书,又怎么会是天竺武功呢?”
Xuanci put three books on the table and asked several guests to read them carefully, saying, “The three books describe the experience of creating kung fu. Just now, Master Polo’s routine clearly stems from these books, so how can it be Tianzhu kung fu?”
112神山上人不甘就此认输。他装模作样翻看了几本经书,然后坚持说那天哲罗星与他谈及过这几本经书的武功秘诀。说完,还当众背诵了几段。这样一来,就把波罗星偷阅经书的罪名一一洗净了。
The people on the holy mountain are unwilling to give up. He pretended to read several scriptures, and then insisted that Zheluoxing had talked with him about the martial arts secrets of these scriptures that day. After that, he recited several paragraphs in public. In this way, Polo was cleared of the crime of stealing scriptures.
113少林寺众僧一时不知该怎样应答。那中年僧人又越众出来,对哲罗星说:“大师,你说这些经书的武功源于天竺,想必大师精熟无比。小僧要领教大师三门武功的高招。”说完身影一晃已到了哲罗星身前。
The monks of Shaolin Temple did not know how to respond. The middle-aged monk stepped out again and said to Zhe Luoxing, “Master, you said that the martial arts of these scriptures originated from India, so you must be very familiar with them. I want to learn the master’s three skills.” After that, his figure flashed to Zhe Luoxing.
114哲罗星并不急于还招,狡辩说:“天竺武功约有三百六十门,小僧哪能门门精熟。请问少林寺诸位大师,哪个又对少林寺七十二门绝技样样精通呢?”这番话一说,倒是令少林寺僧众一怔。
Zhe Luoxing was not in a hurry to return his moves. He said, “There are about 360 Tianzhu martial arts. How can I master them? Who is proficient in the seventy-two unique skills of Shaolin Temple?” This statement stunned all Shaolin monks.
115突然外面传来一个清朗的声音,话音刚落,大殿门口已出现了一位宝相庄严的中年僧人,他双手合十,面露微笑,说:道:“吐番国山僧鸠摩智,参见少林寺方丈。”
Suddenly, a clear and clear voice came from outside. Just as the voice fell, a dignified middle-aged monk appeared at the gate of the main hall. He put his hands together, smiled and said, “Tufan Mountain Monk Hatoyama, see the abbot of Shaolin Temple.”
116玄慈站起还礼,并请鸠摩智在正中座位坐下。这一来,他就坐在了神山上人的上首,令神山上人暗自愤怒不已。
Xuanci stood up to return the salute and asked Hatoyama to sit down in the middle seat. As a result, he sat at the head of the people on the holy mountain, making them secretly angry.
117玄慈将刚才的事粗粗讲给鸠摩智听了,请他主持公道。那知他却各打五十大板,说双方都有错。接着,他声称自己就会少林寺七十二门绝技,并且当场使了一招“大金刚拳”。
Xuanci told Hatoyama what had just happened in a rough way and asked him to be fair. But he said that both sides were wrong. Then, he claimed that he could master seventy-two unique skills of Shaolin Temple, and used a “Big Diamond Fist” on the spot.
