42韦小宝领了人马来到少林寺，取出圣旨，由张康年宣读。只听他长乐篇大论该了许久，最后读道:“兹谴骁骑营正黄旗副都统，兼御前待卫副总管，钦赐黄马褂韦小宝为朕替身，在少林寺出家为僧，着即剃度，钦此。”

44韦小宝替皇帝出家，法号晦明，在寺中自是身份尊荣，一切自由。每日在寺中闲荡，看众僧练武，虽然武功一点也没学到，但因他性子随和，僧众对他都十分亲热。

45一日行近寺外迎客亭，见本寺四名僧人正在和两个年轻女子争闹。这两个女子一个二十岁左右，身穿蓝衫，另一个不过十六七岁，身穿淡绿衣衫。绿衣女郎美丽非凡，韦小宝看得双目发了呆。

49韦小宝和外号“武呆子”的老僧澄观来到东院禅房，看望绿衫女郎。见女郎模卧榻上，忍不住想摸摸她那白玉般的小手。蓝衫女郎左手一挥，便抓他手腕。澄观中指往她左手掌侧“阳谷穴”弹去，逼得她收了招。
