90康熙领着韦小宝去慈宁宫见太后。来到慈宁宫，康熙自行入內，命韦小宝在门外相候。

91一个太监传韦小宝进去叩见皇太后。韦小宝低头进去，见一个三十左右的贵妇坐在椅中，康熙靠在她的身边。
A eunuch sent Wei Xiaobao in to meet the Empress Dowager. Wei Xiaobao looked down and went in. He saw a lady in her thirties sitting in a chair with Kangxi leaning against her.
92太后念及韦小宝今日捉拿鳌拜，护驾有功，赏了他一个六品的品级，升为首领太监，在皇上身边侍候。韦小宝磕头谢恩。

95在鳌拜的卧室发现了一个藏宝河，卫士取出两个白玉大匣递给韦小宝，匣上刻有五个朱红大字，正是《四十二章经》。

96索额图为了讨好韦小宝，定要和他结为兄弟，又从鳌拜的家产中划出五十万两银子给他，还将从鳌拜的藏宝库中找到的一把削铁如泥的匕首和一件黑黝黝的丝质背心送给他，并热心地帮他把背心穿在身上。

97康熙带着韦小宝去见太后。太后接过经书，笑容满脸地夸小桂子能干，盼咐一个叫蕊初的小宫女领他到后屋去吃蜜饯果子。
