58鸠摩智落坐之后，便说:“贫僧有一至交，是大宋苏州人，名叫慕容博。当年贫僧曾与他讲武论剑，慕容先生认为大理天龙寺六脉神剑为天下第一，但他直到去世，也没有机会见到剑经，引为一生最大遗憾。”
After sitting down, Hatoyama said, “I have a close friend who is from Suzhou in the Great Song Dynasty, and his name is Murong Bo. I once talked with him about martial arts and swordsmanship. Mr. Murong thought that the six-pulse magic sword of Dali Tianlong Temple was the best in the world, but he didn’t have the chance to see the sword sutra until his death, which was the greatest regret of his life.”
59本因方丈听了这番话，连忙道谢说:“多承慕容先生夸奖，不知明王来小寺有何指教?”鸠摩智说:“当初贫僧曾对慕容博夸下海口，一定要亲自取到剑经。我既说出这话，就决计不能食言。”
After hearing this, the abbot hurriedly thanked him and said, “Thank you very much for Mr. Murong’s praise. I don’t know what the Ming Wang has to teach me to come to the temple?” Hatoyama said, “I once boasted to Murong Bo, and I must get the sword sutra myself. Since I said this, I will never break my promise.”
60本因方丈道:“慕容先生已经往生极乐，哪会再有意于人生武学?明王此举不嫌多余吗?”鸠摩智说:“我决不会偷学贵寺剑经，只是想把它送至慕容先生墓前焚化，以了却我的这桩心愿。”
Abbot Ben Yin said, “Mr. Murong has passed away in bliss. How could he be interested in life martial arts again? Is it unnecessary for Ming Wang to do this?” Hatoyama said, “I will never steal the sword scripture of your temple, but just want to send it to Mr. Murong’s tomb for burning to fulfill my wish.”
61鸠摩智说完那番话，叫随从抬过来一个箱子，从箱子里取出三本旧册说:“这三卷武功诀要，是慕容先生生前手书，阐述少林派七十二门绝技要旨、练法，以及破解之道。现愿将这三卷奇书，与贵寺交换六脉神剑经。“
After Hatoyama said that, he asked his entourage to carry over a box and take out three old books from the box, saying, “These three volumes of martial arts secrets are written by Mr. Murong in his lifetime, which describe the essence, practice methods and crack methods of seventy-two unique skills of Shaolin. Now I would like to exchange these three volumes of magic books with your temple for the Six Vein Sword Classic“
62众人都知道这三本武林秘笈是天下的至宝。原以为鸠摩智会强取豪夺，听他这么一说，也颇为入情入理。鸠摩智见他们有的动了心，趁势说:“贫僧先在众位面前演示少林七十二绝技中的三门指法，让诸位见笑。“
Everyone knows that these three Wulin secret collections are the most valuable in the world. I had thought that Hatoyama would seize power. It is quite reasonable to hear him say so. Hatoyama saw that they were moved and took the opportunity to say, “I want to show you the three fingering techniques in the seventy-two unique skills of Shaolin in front of you“
63鸠摩智接着当众演示了少林派中的“拈花指”、“多罗叶指”和“无相劫指”三门绝技。他的演示令在座的众人赞叹不已，觉得少林派武功果然名不虚传。
Hatoyama then demonstrated the three unique skills of the Shaolin School, namely, “fingering flowers”, “fingers of leaves” and “fingers of no phase”. His presentation made everyone here marvel and felt that the Shaolin School’s martial arts really deserved its reputation.
64但一直面壁的枯荣长老却没有任何反应。本因方丈问他:“师叔，明王远来，其意甚诚，咱们该怎样应接，请师叔明示。”
But the withered and glorious elders who have been facing the wall have no response. The Abbot Benyin asked him, “Martial Uncle, Ming Wang is coming from afar, and his intention is very sincere. Please clarify how we should answer.”
65枯荣长老对鸠摩智说:“我天龙寺众僧对于敝寺自家武学尚且无法修习完全，还要学少林寺七十二门绝技做什么?明王就请不必再多费心了。”这就拒绝了鸠摩智的要求。
Elder Ku Rong said to Kumoshi, “The monks of Tianlong Temple are still unable to complete our own martial arts. What should we do to learn the seventy-two unique skills of Shaolin Temple? King Ming, please don’t bother any more.” This rejected Kumoshi’s request.
66鸠摩智见软的不行，双手合什，说:“大师之意，是要小僧出手献丑了?”枯荣长老也不示弱，说:“那我们便以六脉神剑，领教明王的高招。”
When Hatoyama saw that he was too weak, he closed his hands and said, “Master, do you want me to make a fool of myself?” Elder Ku Rong did not show his weakness, and said, “Then we can use the six-pulse magic sword to learn the tricks of the Ming King.”
67鸠摩智先以西域密宗的“火焰刀”作试探。只见他叫人拿来一束檀香，抽出六枝并成一列，突然双掌向外挥出，六根香头便点燃了。他接着又运足内力，使六根香生出的六道碧烟向外曲，分别指着堂内六人。
Hatoyama first used the “flame knife” of the Western Esoteric School as a test. He asked someone to bring a bunch of sandalwood, pulled out six sticks and put them in a row. Suddenly, his palms were waved outward, and the six incense heads were lit. He then used his internal power to make the six green smoke produced by the six incense sticks bend outward, pointing at the six people in the hall respectively.
