Yulin led Xingchi and Xingdian to the small temple where they were sitting, and sat on the futuan with their knees crossed. Yulin and Xingchi closed their eyes, but Xingdian opened their eyes. The gold pestle was placed on the side of the group for fear of loss. Wei Xiaobao made a face at Shuang’er, and pretended to sit on the futon. Shuang’er sat next to him.
108忽然间庙门外人声沸沸,有人叫道:“进去搜!”行颠霍地站起,抓起金杵,挡在禅房门口。转瞬之间,九对灰衣和尚两两飞身而入,向玉林合十躬身,便盘膝坐在地下,澄光也在其中。他们便是少林寺十八罗汉。
108 Suddenly, the voice outside the temple was boiling, and someone shouted, “Go in and search!” Xing Tinghuo stood up, grabbed the gold pestle, and blocked the door of the meditation room. In a blink of an eye, nine pairs of grey monks flew in two, bowed to the Yulin, and sat cross-legged on the ground, with Chengguang also in it. They are the Eighteen Arhat of Shaolin Temple.
109韦小宝见有人护驾,便走到行痴身前跪下,说道:“我这就回去了,您有什么吩咐?”行痴取出一个包裹,说道:“你将这部经节带交给主子,告诉他:要天下太平,‘永不加赋’,这四字,务须牢记。”
When Wei Xiaobao saw someone escorted him, he went to Xingchi and knelt down and said, “I’m going back now. What do you want me to do?” Xingchi took out a package and said, “Please take this sutra to the master and tell him:” We must keep in mind the four words of peace in the world, ‘never give it’. ”
110次晨韦小宝带同双儿下山,在山道上迎面碰上一个身材奇高,瘦如僵尸的头陀,那头陀问道:“你是皇宫里的太路小桂子?”不由韦小宝分说,提了韦小宝和双儿便向山坡上无路之处奔去。
On the 110th morning, Wei Xiaobao and Shuanger went down the mountain, and met a tall, zombie-like Toutuo on the mountain path. The Toutuo asked, “Are you the little Guizi in the imperial palace?” Not to mention Wei Xiaobao. He mentioned Wei Xiaobao and Shuanger and ran to the nowhere on the hillside.
111奔了一会,那头陀将二人放在地上,伸手去解韦小宝的穴道,无意间却从韦小宝怀中抽出了顺治让他带交给康界的那部《四十二章经》。那头陀抓住韦小宝胸囗,厉声喝道:“哪里来的?”
After running for a while, the Tuo put them on the ground and reached out to unlock Wei Xiaobao’s acupoints, but inadvertently pulled out the “Forty-two Chapters Classic” which Shunzhi asked him to bring to the Kang world. The man grabbed Wei Xiaobao’s chest and shouted, “Where did you come from?”
112突然间,少林十八罗汉呼啦一声围了上来,一名长眉毛老僧道:“大师是辽东神龙岛胖头陀吧?请把经书还给这位小施主!”胖头陀不依,提了韦小宝向正南一座高峰疾驰,十八少林僧和双儿自后紧追。
Suddenly, the Eighteen Arhat of Shaolin came around with a shout, and an old monk with long eyebrows said, “Master is Fat Toutuo of Liaodong Shenlong Island, right? Please return the scripture to this little benefactor!” Fat Toutuo refused to obey and said Wei Xiaobao was galloping towards a peak in the south, and the Eighteen Shaolin Monks and Shuang’er were chasing after him.
113来到山顶,胖头陀提起左足,轻轻踏在韦小宝头上。韦小宝想胡说八道一番,引得胖头陀分神,少林僧便有相救之机，见前面有个大石龟,背上竖着块大石碣,便道:“《四十二章经》共有八部,这石碣上刻得明白。”
At the top of the mountain, the fat man lifted his left foot and gently stepped on Wei Xiaobao’s head. Wei Xiaobao wanted to talk nonsense, which distracted the fat monk, and the Shaolin monk had a chance to save him. He saw a big stone turtle in front of him, with a large stone tablet on his back, and said, “There are eight chapters of the Forty-Two Chapters Classic, which is clearly engraved on the stone tablet.”
114胖头陀信以为真,抓着韦小宝手臂,拉他到石碣之前。韦小宝对着石碣上弯曲的篆文信囗胡说,说那八部经书分别藏在什么山什么府之中,还说石碣上有神龙教教主的名字。
The fat man believed it, grabbed Wei Xiaobao’s arm and pulled him to the stone tablet. Wei Xiaobao said nonsense to the crooked seal letter on the stone tablet, saying that the eight scriptures were hidden in the mountains and houses respectively, and that there was the name of the leader of the Dragon Cult on the stone tablet.
115胖头陀听罢,神态大变,不仅把经书交还给了韦小宝,还要请他到神龙岛去作客。见韦小宝执意不肯,胖头陀道:“小施主既然不肯赴神龙岛,那也没法了,众位请罢!我要将这石碑上的碑文拓了去。”
After hearing this, the fat man changed his attitude. He not only gave the scripture back to Wei Xiaobao, but also invited him to visit Shenlong Island. Seeing Wei Xiaobao’s insistence, the fat head said, “Since you don’t want to go to Shenlong Island, you can’t do it. Please stop! I’m going to expand the inscription on this stone tablet.”
116少林十八罗汉受玉林大师之嘱,护送韦小宝回北京,一路上自然是再没半点风险。不一日来到北京城外。十八少林僧和小宝行礼作别。
The Eighteen Arhat of Shaolin was instructed by the Master of Yulin to escort Wei Xiaobao back to Beijing. Naturally, there was no risk on the way. Come outside Beijing in a few days. Eighteen Shaolin monks salute Xiao Bao.
