The Deer and The Cauldron 07

After eating some dried venison, the two men lay down on the bank of the river to rest. When they arrived at the second watch, they walked quietly to the village and saw that the village was built of big wood and big stones. The square garden was really not small. I saw a small wooden house on the southeast corner of the village, with light shining through the window.

The two men dived under the window and heard the voices of a man and a woman coming out of the room. Suddenly, I heard the voice of Lord Hong, saying, “I will try my best to work together with Raksha to achieve great things. From now on, we will share the blessings and difficulties, and the two sides will never break the alliance.”

In the room, a man and a woman are two Raksha countrymen. The religious leader Hong is standing respectfully with his hand down. On the ground, there are one hundred large pearls, one hundred marten skins, and one hundred kilograms of ginseng. Hong Jiao said, “The Governor has come all the way to China. He has something to pay homage to the Governor, and other tributes are presented to the Emperor of Raksha.”

Wei Xiaobao pulled Shuanger, and the two left the hut. Wei Xiaobao said to Shuanger, “The emperor treated me well, and his loyalty can’t break him. Let’s hurry back to Beijing and report to the emperor about the collusion between Lord Hong and the Raksha Kingdom. It’s also good to prepare early.” Shuanger said well, and went along the same way hand in hand.

Wei Xiaobao and Shuanger came to Beijing one day. Wei Xiaobao paid a visit to Kangxi and briefly described the past. Kangxi heard that the Shenlong Island had been broken down. Although the false empress dowager had not been captured, he was very happy to learn that the archbishop Hong was allied with the Raksha Kingdom.

The next day Kangxi summoned Wei Xiaobao to his study and told him that Shang Kexi was happy to play. He wanted to return to Liaodong and leave his son to guard Guangdong. I approved that “I can be happy to be old, but my son doesn’t have to stay in Guangdong”. When Wu Sangui and Geng Jingzhong heard the news, they played “Please remove and install”.

Wei Xiaobao said that Wu Geng was thousands of miles apart, and the words in the memorial were similar, indicating collusion and rebellion. He also advised Kangxi to drive in person, which made Kangxi’s heart jump.

In the morning of the next day, Kangxi summoned all the princes and ministers to discuss military and state affairs in the Hall of Supreme Harmony, and all the princes and ministers advocated not to withdraw the vassal. Only Mingzhu said, “As long as the emperor orders it, it must be good.” Kangxi didn’t know the point and asked Wei Xiaobao.

Wei Xiaobao took out a brocade bag from his arms and held it high. Everyone saw the four red letters embroidered on the bag, “Pingxi Palace”. He opened the bag and turned it upside down. There was only a tinkling sound. Pearls, gemstones, jadeite, jade, and dozens of treasures were scattered on the hall, glittering and blooming.

Wei Xiaobao said, “These are all gifts from Wu Sangui to the slave. He asked me to speak up to him in front of the emperor and say never to withdraw the vassal.” All the ministers have received bribes from Wu Sangui. Recently, this batch was brought and handed over by Wei Xiaobao from Yunnan. I’m afraid that the emperor will kill him as a “traffic foreign vassal” if he doesn’t know the truth again.
